There is more to the character of an area than its geography or architectural style…people and what they choose to do for their communities also make a huge difference.
The Kearsarge Area Council on Aging was founded in 1992, to respond to a previously unmet need: that of “providing access to senior related resources”. Although it started small by meeting some basic needs, COA has grown to a full time senior center with a building of its own, The Chapin Senior Center. COA serves residents in Andover, Danbury, Grantham, Newbury, New London, Springfield, Sunapee, Sutton and Wilmot.
COA boasts a dedicated volunteer force of over 200 and offers nearly 30 seasonal programs and services and partners with other area organizations, as well. One of the really popular organized activities is ORFS (Outdoor Recreation for Seniors) which offers great hiking, kayaking adventures, etc. “Being a focal point in the senior community allows the center to function not only as a social and educational hub, but also as an information and referral base.”
COA is a charitable, non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization.
The Kearsarge Area Council on Aging provides an invaluable service to our community.
